Where is my tax refund?
Only the IRS can show your personal federal refund status. This page tells you when to check and then sends you to the real IRS tracker—without collecting tax-return information.
When should I check my refund?

Your answer stays in this browser and is not submitted or saved.
When does IRS refund status appear?
The IRS says status is generally available 24 hours after e-filing a current-year return, three days after e-filing a prior-year return, or four weeks after filing a paper return.
How long does a refund normally take?
The IRS describes the typical time as about three weeks for an e-filed return and six or more weeks after it receives a mailed return. Corrections, reviews, certain credits, amended returns and other issues can make it take longer.
Use the official tracker safely
The IRS tracker may ask for an exact refund amount, Social Security number or ITIN, filing status and tax year. Enter those details only on IRS.gov—not on this website, in a community report or in an email to us.
