When will my direct deposit hit early?

Early access depends on the payer's file and your institution's policy. No site outside your bank can supply a reliable universal posting hour for your account.

CHIME · PUBLIC POLICY

Paychecks may be available up to two days early.

Chime says access depends on when it receives the payer's payment file. Its benefit help page says SSA, SSI, and VA deposits can arrive early, but there is no guarantee.

Use the scheduled payday from your employer as your reference. If an early window passes, ask payroll about the file only when you need clarity; if the scheduled date passes, use the late-deposit checklist.

What “up to two days early” means

It is an upper-bound marketing description, not a promise that every pay period arrives two days early. The sender determines when it submits payment information. The receiving institution decides whether to make funds available before the scheduled payday.

Wells Fargo specifies up to two business days; other providers describe their own terms. Weekends and holidays can change the calendar. Check the Federal Reserve calendar.

What to do when early pay does not appear

  1. Confirm your payer's official scheduled date and any recent account change.
  2. Check your institution's app for available funds and alerts, rather than assuming an old posting hour will repeat.
  3. If the scheduled date passes, ask the sender for the effective date and ACH trace number if sent. Use the late-deposit checklist.
